There was so much renovation of houses in Venice that the alleys often had old windows and doors removed from the bungalows. I collected these and built a greenhouse painting studio in our backyard, part of it you can see in this painting. More importantly I wanted to capture the happiness of our dog Bartok who would lie outside in the garden by our old Mexican tile barbecue. Here he listens to James and I talking after dinner on a fine summer evening.
